This is an especially disgusting type of crime. Its enablers (police, media, politicians, ngo's) will suffer not the slightest punishment. The few perpetrators so far convicted received light sentences.

Some thoughts on the Rotherham atrocities from Nick Land and commenters (the "Cathedral" is the Leftist media-academic complex, those who lead the Leftist religion):
Nick Land:
The BBC fog-machine at work on the UK child-predation story:
Child sexual exploitation is happening in a “number of towns” in different parts of the country, according to the author of a damning report into abuse in Rotherham. … According to an estimate from the Children’s Commissioner for England three years ago, 2,409 children were identified as victims of exploitation by gangs over a 14-month period from 2010-11 …
I’m going to assume that all the fanatically unspecified “men” (or “males”) involved are Muslims of Pakistani origin (abusing white children), unless presented with definite evidence to the contrary. Any other default would be an act of cognitive collaboration with Britain’s sordid little branch-operation of the Cathedral, and we’ve now seen with stark clarity what that enables.
Does the progressive media really think it can de-realize this festival of cultural ruin with a standard inattention protocol? If so, it has to count as an extraordinary peak hubris moment. Perhaps the left is structurally incapable of preventing itself from pushing things over the brink of catastrophe. It always has to take that one additional step, and it has no sense at all of how to back down.
There have to be a lot of people in the UK right now who would be delighted to see the media establishment strung up from lamp-posts, with panic and defection rife in journalistic ranks. It’s surely not impossible that the pattern now jutting into hideous visibility in Britain will evoke a disturbing sense of recognition elsewhere, possibly throughout the Anglosphere. As far as core Cathedral operating procedures are concerned, this has to be a period of (possibly unprecedented) vulnerability. As a source of regime threatening irritability, the Rotherham syndrome is the droit du seigneur of the new nobility — even among a pitifully broken people, it pushes some deeply atavistic buttons. Lies, sexual exploitation, and foreign invasion — who’d want to be PR manager for this cocktail of native degradation?
Commenters:
Scientism: I think perhaps we, from what I assume are our fairly “privileged” positions (not having been “vulnerable youth”, but I only speak for myself here), don’t quite grasp how insidious the Cathedral is. This looks to us like the Cathedral coming apart, but consider that what we have here is a system that managed to train a succession of civil servants to overlook abuse. Not just one or two, but seemingly every last person involved with the council, the police force and the charities, was trained to overlook this kind of abuse, for 16 years.
How can such an outcome be anything but the Cathedral firing on all cylinders, doing what it was designed to do? The immediate reality of the Cathedral for most of us is, essentially, having been misled by the media, having woken up and realised we’ve been lied to, perhaps knowing we’ve lost much of our culture. In the future, we expect some kind of collapse, we think things will get worse. But that’s in the future. On the other hand, the reality of the Cathedral for the civil servants, activists, etc, who are part of it is: Pakistani men raping little white girls while everybody looks the other way. The reality for the media: not reporting on these events, because it might make white people angry at a minority group. That’s their main concern, in both cases, not the abuse. That’s their daily lived experience: being complicit in atrocities while simultaneously being enraged by trivialities.
This is what these guys do all day and have been doing for years. A little scandal isn’t going to change the way they do things. The only thing that’s going to end this is economic collapse or war.
Kgaard: I do not see economic collapse, and I don’t see war coming to the UK’s shores anytime soon. So the existing system continues as is, I guess. When you look to the top of the power structure, the logic of it all is crystal clear: Big business wants the bodies to offset all the babies not being created by native Brits. Labour, meanwhile, wants the immigrants because immigrants vote Labour. So it’s a pact made in hell — and the same pact has been made in the US and much of continental Europe. There is no stopping it that I can see. Who stops it? Who can withstand the combined force of the ENTIRE power structure coming down on their head — from the political left to the right?
Scientism: It’s essentially a set of pernicious feedback loops. The civil servants, the media and a large portion of the British public are experiencing a severe belief bias effect where all evidence confirms their Leftist outlook. Every atrocity is cause to double down on their anti-racist efforts. These efforts protect and enable the gangs and cause more atrocities. This serves to confirm the horrors of systemic racism in the mind of the anti-racist. When the natives try to organise against the protected immigrants, they’re merely seen as racism incarnate, again confirming the Leftist outlook. It’s difficult to see any end to it. These aren’t rational people; they’re caught in a system that develops and maintains a kind of delusive belief system. With the media and most university educated members of the public complicit, there’s little hope of exposure. The outrage of the uneducated masses merely confirms their racist nature. Nationalist groups inevitably find solace in anti-system symbolism and end up goose-stepping down the street, again conforming the worldview of the anti-racists. Everybody has a role to play and everything confirms Leftism! How do you escape that?

The Greek Circle
The primary goal of this financial rigmarole is to blind the European
taxpayers (ie the Germans) to the reality of their position. Imagine having a
sordid, lying, cheating, stealing Section 8 tenant--then solving her insolvency
by paying yourself the rent she owes you. Of course, this is only a temporary
expedient until she reforms her ways!
Though most people cannot understand the procedural intricacies of the
Eurocrats and their obliging Greek "friends", an editorialist can readily sum
the figures for his readers. That sum, by the way, seems to be about $70 billion
out the door and in the wind thus far, with real interest rates consuming
about $5 billion a year so long as the Germans continue to service 75% of Greek
debt. But, in addition to paying interest, they persist in sending more fresh
capital into the black hole. Their total default exposure is around $170 billion
just for Greece's public debt. Greek banks also owe debt to the Germans in the
multibillion dollar range. If Greece leaves the EU, the nominal cost will probably
be $300 billion or more. The real cost involved in radically upending business expectations and altering the terms of trade will be substantially higher. And the cost will fall upon the creditors primarily in either case.
And then we have the Iberians.

The Lost Principle of Accountability
An excellent article, much after my own taste: I especially liked the comparison of the private and the general. This is a pervasive and hugely destructive problem in our society at large. Leaders are simply not held to account for their failures. We see this in the Gulf oil spill, we saw it in the financial crisis, we see it perpetually among the management of unsuccesful publicly held companies. This is what America has lost in the last 50 years and what will ultimately destroy it if not recovered: the interlocking values of self-reliance, personal responsibility, and accountability. |

BP Attacks America
There are two basic strategies to prevent these disasters caused by corporate or governmental incompetence:
1. Write and enforce effective regulations to minimize the risks and to adjust risks and rewards in a cost-effective fashion.
2. Impose accountability upon responsible parties, whether they are government officials, business executives, or any other decisionmakers.
Both ought to be followed. Natheless, as was the case with the financial meltdown, we have utterly failed to pursue either of these strategies.
Result: America is robbed blind by the Wall Street barons, leading to the election of Mr. Change--then, the oil barons destroy an ocean, with all the environmental, commercial, and cultural treasure that ocean once supported.
We've done nothing on financial meltdown risk-mitigation. How likely is it that anything will be done to ward off future oil spills?
Compared to Bush and Katrina, Obama has played the PR side more conscientiously--but, he has displayed even more incompetence than Bush. And, to me, this is a much more serious affair than Katrina was. BP looks absolutely abominable in their management of this crisis, with their endless stream of lies and continuous incompetence.

Immigration Balance Sheet
I'm beginning to see the outlines of a new American tradition: privatize profits, socialize expenses. The financial sector has become notorious for doing this on a devastating scale. But, those businesses that employee illegals are doing essentially the same thing--they benefit from cheap labor and stick the taxpayers with the costs of their employees' medical care, education, imprisonment, welfare programs, etc. These businesses are just another self-concerned special interest. And you may depend upon it, they are well represented in the political game. Until the employment laws are enforced, illegals will continue to pour in--short of this, you have no more chance of preventing their immigration than of stopping the flow of drugs--which is to say, you have no chance at all.
But, there will be no Operation Wetback redux.

Bad Repetitions
I do not view the financial collapse as a partisan issue--at least, not in its origins (its results are a different matter because the Democrats are likely to use it as an excuse for a binge of socialization programs). The basic problem is that no one in a position of power seemed to consider what might happen if the largest bubble in world history did what all other bubbles have done in the past: collapse. The Fed, the Treasury, the White House, the major banks should have recognized that a collapse on this unexampled scale could cause systemic risk. The first responsibility of the government in its regulation of financial markets and banks is to prevent systemic risk. Instead, the government, in many different ways, each reinforcing the other, virtually invited the risk. To compound the disaster financial institutions that were too big to be allowed to fail underwrote risks that could lead to their failure, unless the government bailed them out.
And in the end those individuals who are most culpable, who led these institutions, both public and private--will walk. They seem to have performed the trick of achieving power without bearing accountability. Under such a system the capacity to deter a repetition of these events does not exist.

More Power = Less Accountability
It is a fact that both the Clinton and Bush administrations worked to increase home ownership rates (which governmental interference also had the side-effect of accelerating the rate of home price inflation). The Byzantine manouevrings of Congressmen relevant to this issue I have only a general notion of--though Republican control for 12 of the last 14 years might lead to some inferences. The only way to increase home ownership rates in a short period of time is to persuade lenders to give loans to ever less qualified buyers. Consequently, risk built up over time and, since a real estate bubble had clearly developed (with house prices rising far faster than personal income), when prices began to decline the full shock of accumulated risks undertaken in the course of many years all hit at once. And these risks were undertaken by high risk buyers, by lenders, by investors in mortgage debt instruments, and by the federal government, which is ultimately responsible for overseeing the financial markets and for preventing, in particular, such a systemic threat as we now face. All of the above parties have suffered in some measure, even those who received bailouts.
This crisis was caused in the main by a failure of comprehension, a failure to exercise informed intelligence on the part of the federal government authorities--I mean incompetence in action at the SEC, the Treasury, the Federal Reserve, the White House, and in Congress. Note that no one has gone down for this disaster, not a single federal-level casualty to date. Shareholders have been wiped out, homeowners kicked out, workers and managers cleared out--but, the leaders and regulators, who should have had a global view of this problem, the only people in a position both to see the totality of the problem and to develop preemptive solutions to it--remain unscathed.
This is a cultural problem in America. Accountability is necessary for any institution to function effectively.
