Bio-boondoggle

My suspicions about the knock-on environmental effects of biofuels were always my main reason for scepticism about the government subsidies in this area.  After all, subsidies sometimes function to level the playing field, and our economy is heavily interlaced with all sorts of subsidies anyhow. But, this reminds me of the boondoggle that half-destroyed the Everglades and enriched our homegrown Cuban sugar mafia, those Faggello brothers or whatever their name is: sugar subsidies.
